Chelsea Kigano
Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
Chelsea supports businesses, entrepreneurs, and social good organizations by creating a messaging and development strategy that effectively communicates their mission and image to engaged and relevant audiences. Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Chelsea’s practice has been inextricably tied to her identity as an immigrant of color. At an early age, she realized that the narratives surrounding people of color were consistently contextualized within the framework of marginalization. It took that framing, which was remarkably opaque, to realize she had to be proactive in cultivating and curating more transparent and vibrant ones. Ultimately, she began her career in communications with a focus on providing services to individuals and entities with values that aligned with her own. During this pursuit, she became an advocate and documentarian; empowering diverse communities to use their own voice to tell their own unique stories. She has worked for nonprofits, small businesses, and higher education institutions across the Bay Area as a communications and digital art professional.
Chelsea received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language from the University of Florida. She graduated from the Uptima program in 2016.
